Arrival at Alba (from Turin or Milan airports) and accommodation at premises near to the historical city center, at walking distance to the main points of interest.
The town of Alba – Alba is the gate of the Langhe. The historic and financial capital city of this rich territory, Alba is a town with a human face, with an amazing historic center dating back to the middle ages. On the route of the Barolo wine producers, the city houses a renowned International Exhibition of the White Truffles and the prestigious brand Ferrero, a leader worldwide in the confectionery sector. You will enjoy the cozy city alleyways, rich in colors and warm-hearted all year round.
N.B.: you are kindly invited to join us for dinner… quite hungry… as the local cuisine is one of the best and most celebrated over Italy. The perfect pairing for the food served will be a bottle of Barolo or Barbaresco.
A taste of hazelnut – Since the ancient times, the Lange has always been the perfect place to grow hazelnuts. The skilled craftsmen of the confectionery sector in Piedmont, have made this the basic ingredient for pies, sweets and chocolate. While visiting some small producers of the area, we will lead you through a hazel grove to discover the secret of the tree and it’s fruit. This visit will end in the kitchen, where you can try making the traditional hazelnut pie, the most popular dessert of the Piedmontese cuisine.
A daytrip to the countryside – Beyond the River Tanaro, northbound. The hills become more gentle as they approach the Roero territory. This territory is also rich in excellences in the field of food industry, as a result of having accepted the challenges posed by quality, sustainability and an environmental-friendly production. We will lead you through the many farming businesses of the territory for a picnic in the countryside to discover both the history and the practices of this land.
On our way back to Alba, in the evening, you are free to chose where to have dinner, among the many premises available in Alba. As usual, we will be happy to assist: fortunately we ”had to” try almost all of them!
A course in Barolo – Barolo, more than a place, is a sanctuary of the wine business worldwide. This tiny village the wine was named after, deserves a visit to understand how the skilled winemakers of the area are able to bottle the distinctive features of this land together with their wine: noble and elegant at heart, strong and firm in behavior. A visit to the Barolo Castle is “mandatory”, as well as a wine tasting of His Royal Highness, Prince Barolo of Langhe.
