TOUR of the Lower Piedmont


> Just think of the taste of fresh milk, the color of straw, and a minimum 2-month wait: this is how the Castelmagno DOP is produced. The ancient recipe is kept by the Val Grana farmers, in the south of Piedmont: that is the place we want to take you to listen to their stories and to understand how hard their job can be, but also to share (and taste!) the result of their efforts. Now just sip a glass of Barolo and lose yourself among the beauty of the Langhe hills. And here is our recipe for a two-day trip between Turin and the lower Piedmont.

1st day

The first day is devoted to the city center of Turin, where to taste a delicious homemade ice-cream by Cooperativa Sociale Insieme. Lunch in the modern Caffè UP, where the innovative design meets the gourmet quality of the Italian cuisine.
In the afternoon, wine tasting in the prestigious Cantina Terre del Barolo in the Langhe, at a walking distance from the ancient town where to spend the last afternoon hours.
In the evening, the family atmosphere of the Antico Albergo del Molino, in the heart of Valle Grana, an ideal shelter where to have a special dinner only based on dishes with Castelmagno, and a pleasant stay in the greenery and close to the mountains.

2nd day

The dairy farm Caseificio Cooperativo dei Produttori Alta Valle Grana is the starting point of the second day. Surrounded by an authentic and traditional atmosphere, you can follow the different stages in the production of Castelmagno from the delivery of milk to the maturation of cheese.
The splendid town of Saluzzo will then welcome visitors with their middle age heritage and the local fruit and vegetable production, to which the utmost care is devoted.
After lunch, based on local and traditional specialties enriched with new recipes including fruit from the farm Società Agricola Coop Ortofruit Italia, return to Turin and afternoon free.
