There were so many, but highlights for me were Torino, hunting for (and eating) truffles, learning the history of and making our own vermouth, visiting the cheese caves and tasting cheeses from various regions along with locally cured meats and wines. The fishing village with the tour and lunch with a local fisherman, The museums and churches were fun and interesting. And the food. The meals and wineries and wines were exceptional. Matteo and Alessandro gave us an overview of the variety in the rich fabric of modern Italian cuisine. Every meal was paired flawlessly with local wines and olive oils. Tasting the specialities of each place we visited is a unique way to understand the people, the land, the economy and the history. Each place we visited went out of their way to make us feel welcome, the accommodations that they made for people with particular needs or tastes was above and beyond polite. The guide was gracious and patient and gave us the information we needed to understand and more fully enjoy our visits, and meals, from the breadsticks right down to the coffee. The periodic visits along the way from Matteo and Alessandro also gave us the opportunity to chat with the locals to get a better sense of their lives in Italy. You can bet that I will jump at the chance to join you on another, especially when you partner with Matteo and Alessandro.
